Here at Farnworth Rose we are delighted to have taken part in a charity race night raising more than £2,200 for Pendleside Hospice.

The evening was organised by the Burnley branch of the Swedish bank Handelsbanken, with companies from around the local area coming together to support the cause.

At Farnworth Rose, we were delighted to get involved with this great cause by providing sponsorship on the night.

The race night drew a great crowd, with punters backing their horses and cheering them on to victory.

All of the proceeds raised from the night will go to support Pendleside Hospice, with even more money raised courtesy of a raffle and an auction.

Raising money for a fantastic cause

Most of us who live in the Burnley and Pendle area will at some point have been grateful for the quality of care provided for loved ones by Pendleside Hospice.

Since the Hospice was opened in 1997, thousands of local people have continued to benefit from the support of Pendleside Hospice. Through continued fundraising they now offer day therapy, specialist physiotherapy, complementary therapies, inpatient care, 24/7 hospice at home, counselling, bereavement support and spiritual care.

Currently, the Hospice costs £3.8 million per year to run and the majority of the funds which allow them to continue to carry out their exceptional work is raised locally.

Simon Joyce, Branch Manager at Handelsbanken, said of the night: ‘I would like to say a big thank you to all who attended for all their support on behalf of Pendleside.

‘We’ve had a quick count up and the total is slightly ahead of £2,200 and this is before Pendleside add Gift Aid declarations of another £200.

‘I think everyone enjoyed themselves too which is always a ‘win win’ situation.â?
