The Housing Market Remains Open During Lockdown 2
The Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government confirmed on the 31st October that the housing market will remain open in the lockdown period commencing 5th November 2020.
The process of searching for and moving into a new home continues to be different as estate agents, conveyancers and other professionals have had to modify how they and us alike, work to reduce the risk of COVID-19. These changes include agents offering virtual viewings, asking sellers to vacate their properties during viewings and the need for homes to be thoroughly cleaned before anybody moves in.
The guidance remains that all parties are encouraged to be as flexible as possible and be prepared for moves being potentially delayed, if the situation arises whereby one party involved becomes ill with COVID-19 or has to self-isolate during the transaction. If you found yourself in this situation during your move please notify us as soon as possible.
Before you enter into a legally binding contract to sell or buy a property during the lock down period, we will discuss the possible implications of COVID-19 with you and consider whether there is a need to make contractual provisions to manage these risks. However, please note you should not expect to immediately be able to move into any home where people have COVID-19 or are self-isolating.
For more information please see:-
We would like to remind you that anyone involved in any aspect of the home-moving process should practice social distancing in line with public health advice.
If you are a landlord renting a property you need to be aware of the guidance on coronavirus and renting which contains further advice regarding possession proceedings, repairs, maintenance and health and safety.
For more information please see:-
We will continue to progress your matter as efficiently as possible whilst trying to ensure the current events cause minimal disruption. However, please bear in mind the Conveyancing process can involve many third parties such as local authorities, building inspectors, removal companies etc. all of which we cannot be responsible for in causing any delays.
Farnworth Rose remain committed to providing you a first-class legal service during this difficult time and thank you for your support.
